Elden and Quentin worked on the song the night after Josh reintroduced us to it. We brought the bass line to a satisfactory level, programmed a drum line and re-recorded with Elden performing both guitar parts and Quentin playing bass.
Had our first full session last night, and man what a thrill it was to hear the drums live! I had a shit-eatting grin on my face for the first half hour. We hammered out "Waiting" and got to work on the new tune which, until Collins comes up with something better, is refered to as "Grampas Guitars" (spoke in broken Norwegian).
I've attached the last recording of "Waiting". It begins, as just about every track does, with us joking around. The vocals come in and out as I'm trying to play bass and keep the microphone near me, and I'm pretty sure that before the second verse there's a couple misplayed notes - oh, and the recording is awful considering it's recorded off of a laptop sitting in the center of the room surrounded by amps and drums. I'm explain all this because it's our first public offering, and I want all three of the people coming to this site to know in advance that this is far from studio quality!
(Current) Lyrics for "Waiting":
This eternal optimist
Raised in a world of separatists
With a fairy-tale mentality
Won't happen to me, can't happen to me
I'm afraid to ask, but I have to know
Was it all a dream or an elaborate show
The curtain rises as I take a bow
Finally found my voice; is it my life now?
Times have come that I can't resist
Found a gag pressed to my lips
Still I responds without my fists
Cause I'm the eternal optimist
I'm afraid to ask, but I have to know
Was it all a dream or an elaborate show
The curtain rises as I take a bow
Finally found my voice; is it my life now?
